The official DPC season in Dota 2 is slowly coming to an end. Several different meta’s have formed during this period, but the current meta is one of the most intriguing. Patch 7.21d has been out since March, which means there’s been a lot of time to mature.
If you are one of those people that want to get as much MMR as possible, you probably spam some of the top meta heroes. However, if you have no idea what I am talking about, here is a list of some of the strongest heroes in the current Meta.
Razor has always been one of the biggest pains to deal with. He is, by far, one of the strongest 1v1 heroes in a lane. Even though he hasn’t undergone that many changes, the current meta puts him in a position of strength. Razor is playable in pretty much every position possible. He is one of the few heroes that directly counters some of the other annoying heroes in the game (Bristleback is a good example here).
There are many different items builds that you can choose from. Usually, people will get Phase Boots into Drums, but there are others who rush a Rod of Atos in order to “suck” as much damage as possible out of their opponents.
One of the biggest damage dealers in the game, Lina is certainly among the top heroes right now. Most of the time she is super aggressive and can bully nearly any enemy hero out of her lane. Even though there are still people who pick her as a support, she shines brightest in the mid lane.
There are many ways to play the hero. For example, you can try to use your stun in order to interrupt the enemy and steal last-hits. Lina also has tons of range on her auto-attacks, which helps her farm from a safe distance. She scales reasonably well in the late game, even though her strongest times are during the early-mid game.
Lina can be itemized either as a pure spellcaster or a spell/right-clicking hybrid, which is more common. You can often see people getting a Shadow Blade with Aghs for example. All in all, she is one of the go-to heroes if you want to grind some MMR.
Even though the infamous OD-Omni meta is long gone, Omniknight has recently exploded in popularity yet again. Although he received a series of nerfs in the last couple of patches, he slowly but steadily earned his way back into our hearts. Omni is good lane support as well as a decent offlaner. His healing spell also does pure damage, which means he can always land a nuke on the enemies.
There are many different ways to itemize the hero. From rushing a Guardian Greeves to getting that 18 min Radiance, you can pretty much see it all. At the end of the day, it all comes down to the specific game. There is no wrong way to itemize because every Dota 2 game is different. Always try to predict which items are the best for the current situation.
Doom is one of those heroes that is capable of deciding a team fight. He has received numerous buffs and nerfs through the years, but his current state seems to be pretty solid.
Doom is a good aura carrier for his teammates who can play in various positions. He also has a farming mechanism via Devour, which means that it is kind of hard to shut him down. And of course, his ultimate is one of the strongest spells in the game. This all adds up to his popularity and makes him one of the go-to picks not only in pub but pro games as well.
The item build of this hero depends a lot on the position that he is playing, as is common.
OD has been one of the strongest core heroes for several previous patches in a row. However, after the various nerfs, he became somewhat irrelevant for a certain period of time. Nowadays, the hero has slowly made his way back as a go-to pick. He does tons of damage, has a disable and now a good farming mechanic.
OD’s item build is more standard compared to some other core heroes. Some of the best things to get are Rod of Atos, Blink Dagger and/or Hurricane Pike, BKB, and a Hex. Just remember one thing – always pick the hero whenever there are no counters in the game. A well picked Nyx could ruin your experience.
These are just some of the heroes that can boost your MMR in Dota. Always pick heroes that you are most comfortable with. Don’t just pick a hero because they’re “hot” if you struggle to make it work. Sooner or later, the results will come. And of course, try to think outside the box.
